Get The Estimated Value Of Any iOS App With App Profile Pages

The Sensor Tower App Profile Pages give you vital information on any App Store app, along with an estimated value of each app.

Today we are happy to announce that we have finally gone live with one of our most anticipated features here at Sensor Tower, our new App Profile Pages. Now, instead of sending you to the standard iTunes Preview page when you want to find out more about an app, you will be able to see an App Profile Page that gives you all the vital App Store data for that app.

We are particularly excited about the Estimated App Worth feature. It uses our proprietary algorithm to automatically estimate the value of any app, in real time. This is available as public information to anyone who visits our website. Let's take a closer look at how to get this information and how it can help you.

Note: Since this post was first published, we have deprecated the Estimate App Worth feature in favor of our Store Intelligence product.

How To Find The Sensor Tower App Profile Pages

If you visit our Rankings page, you will see a list of the current top ranked apps on the App Store. You can choose a particular category or just use the default page.

Then click on any of the apps on the list to be taken to the Profile Page for that app. For example, let's check out the Contra: Evolution game.

What Do The Profile Pages Display?

When the App Profile Page comes up, the first thing that you see will be the description of the app. This is just the basic information and there is also a link if you want to check it out on iTunes.

lt="Basic information about this app

Next you will see the Estimated App Worth box that we talked about at the beginning of this post. This estimate is based on our proprietary algorithm that takes into account different factors such as: user numbers (on a per country basis, multiplied by country app market value), revenue rankings in each country (normalized by country and category), user reviews on a per country basis, game vs. non-game, recent user growth compared to historical growth, and much, much more.

lt="Mobile application value

Then we get into some really interesting information about the app, such as: Rating Breakdown Per Day. This graph compares the number of positive ratings to the number of negative ratings, and allows you to spot any recent trends that may be going on with the app.

lt="Ratings and reviews

Next, we show a graph of the user base of the app. If an app is only being downloaded in one or two countries, then there is the potential to expand into other markets and dramatically improve the revenue of the app.

lt="Localization of game

On the other tab in that section, we show you the breakdown of the geographic locations where the estimated revenue of that app comes from. Even though there may be a lot of users from a particular country, they may account for a smaller portion of the revenue. In this case, there are a lot of users in China, but they only account for about 10% of the revenue.

lt="Revenue projections

Now, this is really interesting. We show you the top items that are purchased in the app so you can see exactly how the app makes money, if they have in-app purchases.

lt="Income sources of this app

In addition, you will also be able to see the following:

  • Reviews

  • Keyword Ranking History (Top 2 most popular keywords)

  • Related Apps

  • Search For Other Apps By Name

  • Other Apps From Publisher

  • Category Ranking History

  • And more!

How This Information Can Help You

If you are the owner of an app, our App Profile Pages can help you in two ways. First, you will be able to easily track all of the important data about your app in one convenient place. You might also be able to use the Estimated App Worth in your marketing (just be sure to disclose that it is just an estimate). Second, you can take a look at your competitors to see what they are doing and if there is any information that you can use to make your app better.

If you do not have an app yet and are just doing some market research, then the information on our Profile Pages can help you get a feel for what is going on in different categories. How are these apps making money? What can be improved? Answering these questions can go a long way towards making your new app a success.

Finally, even if you are not doing any market research, it is just really interesting to see the estimated values of your favorite apps. Take a look at a couple and see for yourself.

Conclusion

There have been a few questions that have come up, such as: "How can an app only be valued at $1,000,000, when the company itself is huge. Shouldn't it be worth much more than that?" Keep in mind that we are only valuing the app itself, based on data from the App Store, not the whole company.

We hope that our new App Profile Pages will give you better insight into apps on the App Store. If this might help an app developer you know, feel free to share this post with them.
