Here are a few of the highlights:


💨 Steam maintains its dominance: The top PC/Console platform by downloads volume, Steam games were downloaded 409M times. Its premium game revenue is up 15% YTD.


🏃 Fast-paced wins the day: High-stakes, action-oriented genres maintained a clear edge over more casual entries, with Action (262M downloads), Shooter (189M), and RPG (131M) topping the charts.


🏆 Top publishers diverge: Electronic Arts raked in the most downloads (82.8M) through leaning on Sports, IP, and co-op games, while Microsoft (75.4) focused on acquired franchises like Call of Duty and Minecraft.


💸 Fortnite’s big bankroll: Fortnite’s ad spend ($17.8M) was nearly 2x that of the game with the second-highest ad budget, Roblox ($9.6M). Valorant took the #3 spot.


🏈 COD players flock to football: 3.6% of Call of Duty players on Steam also downloaded Madden NFL 25. They also were more likely to play other shooters — especially ones with fresh takes on the genre.
