Change Spying Now Easier With Update Timeline On iOS App Profile Pages

Learn how to spy on the changes that your iOS competitors are making and find all that information on one easy-to-read page.

We recently added the ability for you to see the icon, screenshot, description and keyword changes that any iOS app has made. However, since that last post, we have also added an Update Timeline feature to our App Profile pages to make these changes easier to see. In this post, we will quickly show you how this new feature will simplify your research process when it comes to analyzing what your competitors are doing.

The Update Timeline

Our App Profile Pages now have an Update Timeline tab that can be found on the left side of the screen. When you click on that tab, you will be able to see all of the dates where some sort of change was made. The most common changes are version changes, but if there are other changes, you will be able to see them too.

For example, Clash of Clans recently made changes to their screenshots, game functionality (see version change notes) and description. Each change is color coded to make it easy for you to see exactly which changes were made.

When you click on any update line on the timeline, you will see all of the changes in that update. Here is a sample of the version and iPhone screenshot change details for this update. The other screenshot and description changes are not displayed in the image below (because there is a ton of information), but you can see all the details here.

Besides seeing what other apps are doing in each update, it is also useful to see how often they are updating their app. This can help you see what is working and possibly time your updates before your competitors, if they publish changes on a set schedule.

Find The Android Version Quickly

There is one more feature that is still in beta, but you will be able to see on our App Profile Pages. We have added a Unified link to every iOS app where we detect an Android version, or vice versa.

The link has the applicable app store symbol next to app name and the help bubble that pops up when you put your mouse over name will also tell you which store the link goes to. This makes it easy to do research on both versions of an app, instead of having to search for each one separately.

Conclusion

We are constantly developing new features like these, so be sure to check our blog weekly or subscribe to our RSS feed. We have decided to publish a new blog post twice weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday, so be sure to check back on those days to get the latest on App Store Optimization and app marketing tips.

In case you are wondering, these features will be also available for Android. When they are ready, we will let you know here on the blog.

What do you think about these new features?
