The fourth quarter of 2020 saw the MMORPG genre continue to thrive on the Android platform in the United States. Sensor Tower's data provides an insight into how five leading MMORPGs performed during this period.
Forsaken World: Gods&Demons by PERFECT WORLD GAMES (SG) had a notable performance with weekly revenue peaking at $177K in the week of December 21st. The game saw its downloads reach a high of 78K in the week following its release and weekly active users hitting a peak of 48K at the end of November.
A3: Still Alive from Netmarble, another strong contender from South Korea, showed remarkable revenue growth starting at $146K in its release week and soaring to $206K by the end of December. The game's downloads started strong at 106K in its release week but slowed down to 2K by the end of December, with active users peaking at 66K mid-November.
Black Desert Mobile by PEARL ABYSS also demonstrated significant revenue, with a notable week in late November bringing in $291K. Downloads spiked to 39K in the final week of December, and active users saw a high of 91K in the same period, indicating a strong end to the quarter.
Jagex Games Studio's Old School RuneScape from the United Kingdom maintained a steady revenue with $82K in the last week of December. The game's weekly downloads and active users showed consistency, with downloads hovering around 6-8K and active users remaining above 63K towards the year's end.
Lastly, Dino Tamers - Jurassic MMO from Australian publisher Foxie Ventures saw revenues reaching $2K towards the end of December. Downloads increased to 9K, and weekly active users saw a gradual increase, concluding with 18K active users in the last week of December.
