In the first quarter of 2021, the book application category in Latin America has shown varied performance across the top 5 apps on the unified platform. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the download figures, revenue, and weekly active user trends for these leading applications.
Storytel: Audiobooks & Ebooks experienced a fluctuating trend in downloads, peaking at 69K in mid-March before settling at around 51K by the end of March. Revenue displayed a similar pattern, with a notable spike of $33K in late February, while weekly active users saw a peak of 248K in early January, later balancing out to approximately 229K by the end of March.
Webfic-Make Reading Fantastic witnessed an initial surge in downloads, reaching 90K in the first week of January, but saw a decline to roughly 13K by the end of March. Revenue followed a downward trend from $55K in the first week of January to $17K by the end of March. Weekly active users also decreased, from 79K at the beginning of the quarter to around 63K at its close.
BueNovela & leer novela libro had a modest start in terms of downloads, with a slight increase from 2.2K in its release week to 15K in late January, and a subsequent drop to around 5.3K by the end of March. Active users grew significantly from 1.8K to nearly 11.3K in the same period.
Everand: Ebooks and audiobooks showed consistent growth in downloads from 12K in late December to over 43K by the end of March. Revenue remained relatively stable, with a peak of $14K in late February. The number of weekly active users increased from 146K at the start of the quarter to over 209K by its conclusion.
Dreame - Read Best Romance saw a significant increase in downloads, from 25K in the last week of December to a staggering 234K in mid-March, stabilizing at 112K by the end of the month. Revenue echoed this growth, with a notable rise from $16K in late December to $45K in mid-March before decreasing to $33K. Weekly active users also showed impressive growth, starting at 88K and reaching 182K in late March.
