Throughout the first quarter of 2022, the top shopping applications on the Android platform in Germany demonstrated notable trends in weekly downloads and active user engagement. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the performance of the top five apps: OTTO – Online Shopping & Möbel, Kaufland - Shopping & Offers, Lidl Plus, Amazon Shopping, and Mein dm.
OTTO – Online Shopping & Möbel experienced a fluctuating yet overall steady trend in weekly downloads. Starting at around 41.9K downloads in the last week of December 2021, the app saw a slight dip mid-quarter, with numbers hovering around 34K to 49K. Weekly active users also showed a consistent pattern, maintaining figures close to 900K, peaking at 910.5K in early January, and ending the quarter at approximately 790.3K.
Kaufland - Shopping & Offers began Q1 with a strong download count of 51.6K, which saw a gradual decline, reaching a low of 26.5K in mid-March before recovering to 31.8K by the end of the quarter. The active user base showed resilience, maintaining numbers around 360K to 404K, with a peak of 427K in mid-January.
Lidl Plus saw a stable download trend throughout the quarter, starting at 31.1K and peaking at 39.3K in late January, before settling at 36.7K by the end of March. The app’s active user count remained robust, starting at 626.3K and showing an upward trend to 680.5K by the end of Q1.
Amazon Shopping maintained a consistent download rate, starting at 39.9K in late December 2021, dipping slightly to around 29K in February, and ending the quarter at 33.1K. The app’s active user base remained strong, consistently around 3.6M, with minor fluctuations, ending March with approximately 3.3M active users.
Mein dm exhibited a significant initial surge in downloads, peaking at 56.3K in early January before stabilizing to around 19K-22K towards the end of March. Active user figures also demonstrated a similar pattern, peaking at 482.1K in early January and ending the quarter at 426.6K.
