During the second quarter of 2022, the top 5 shopping apps on the Android platform in South Africa showcased varying performance trends. Here’s a closer look at their weekly downloads and active user metrics.
SHEIN-Shopping Online observed a decline in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 80K in late March and dipping to about 39K by the end of June. Despite this, the app maintained a strong user base with weekly active users fluctuating between 400K and 450K throughout the quarter.
Takealot – Online Shopping App experienced a positive trend in downloads, beginning with around 36K in late March and peaking at nearly 49K by the end of May. Its weekly active users also saw an upward trajectory, increasing from 429K to 464K over the same period.
Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace noted a steady rise in weekly downloads, growing from approximately 18K in late March to around 27K by the end of May. The app’s active user count also increased consistently, starting at 266K and reaching over 314K by the end of June.
Checkers Sixty60 showed moderate growth in downloads, starting at about 20K in late March and peaking at 25K by the end of May. The app’s weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 200K and 226K throughout the quarter.
Pick n Pay asap! had a varied download trend, with numbers ranging from 19K in late March, peaking at around 20K in late May, and then dropping to approximately 12K by the end of June. Its active user base saw a slight decline from 50K to around 44K during the quarter.
