The MMORPG genre remains a significant player in the mobile gaming market, and the third quarter of 2022 was no exception. Using data provided by Sensor Tower, let's delve into the performance of the top five MMORPGs on the Android platform within the US.
Diablo Immortal by Blizzard Entertainment maintained strong figures, with revenues starting at around $1.1 million in the last week of June and settling at around $586k by the end of September. Downloads followed a declining trend from around 50k to approximately 12k, while weekly active users decreased from around 161k to about 75k.
NCSOFT's Lineage2M, despite having no new downloads recorded in Q3, showed revenues that began at approximately $85k in late June and ended at around $59k in late September. The weekly active users data for Lineage2M was not available.
For MapleStory M - Fantasy MMORPG, revenues saw a peak of around $130k in late July but dropped to about $47k by the end of September. The game experienced a modest download count, peaking at around 1.7k, and declining to just over 900 by the quarter's end. Weekly active users hovered around the 2.5k mark throughout the quarter.
Old School RuneScape by Jagex Games Studio showed consistent revenue throughout the quarter, starting at around $62k and slightly increasing to around $66k. Downloads remained steady, with approximately 2k each week, and weekly active users were stable at around 21k.
Lastly, Ragnarok Origin from GRAVITY Co., Ltd. saw weekly revenues ranging from around $84k to roughly $63k by the quarter's end. Downloads spiked from around 1.5k to nearly 4.6k in the final week of September. Weekly active users started at approximately 9.9k and increased to around 13.2k, showing a positive trend in user engagement.
