2026 State of Mobile is Live!

The third quarter of 2022 saw notable trends in the performance of the top 5 navigation apps in the United States, encompassing both iOS and Android platforms. Here’s a closer look at how each app fared during this period, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads starting at around 536K at the end of June and experiencing a gradual decline to approximately 424K by the end of September. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around the 25M mark throughout the quarter.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw its weekly downloads decline from about 256K at the end of June to 201K by the end of September. Active user numbers also showed a downward trend, starting at around 11M and decreasing to just over 10M by the end of the quarter.
ParkMobile: Park. Pay. Go. experienced a slight decrease in weekly downloads, starting at 139K in late June and dropping to 105K by the end of September. However, weekly active users remained fairly steady, fluctuating around the 670K mark throughout the quarter.
Transit • Subway & Bus Times exhibited a positive trend in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $19K in mid-September. Weekly downloads showed an upward trend, rising from 59K in late June to around 83K by the end of August, before slightly declining to 64K by the end of September. Active users saw substantial growth, increasing from 2.3M in late June to over 3M by the end of September.
Moovit: All Transit Options showed a significant increase in weekly revenue, peaking at $2.6K in early September. Weekly downloads grew from around 49K in late June to approximately 63K by early September, before dropping to 48K by the end of the month. Active users also saw growth, starting at 168K in late June and reaching 205K by mid-September.
