Top 5 Communication Apps on Android in Egypt: Q2 2023

In Q2 2023, the performance of the top five communication apps on the Android platform in Egypt revealed interesting trends in downloads, active users, and revenue. According to Sensor Tower data, here’s how each app fared:

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong user base with weekly active users ranging from approximately 28.9M to 29.7M. Weekly downloads peaked at around 274.6K in early June, showing fluctuations throughout the quarter.

Snapchat saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at $265 in the last week of June. Downloads fluctuated, with a high of about 183.5K in mid-April and a later peak of 182K in the final week of June. Active users rose from 8M to around 9.1M over the quarter.

Telegram experienced consistent weekly revenue, ending the quarter at approximately $701. Downloads varied, peaking at around 212.4K in late March and dropping to about 111.9K by the end of June. Active users showed a slight decline from 9.6M to 9.2M.

Getcontact saw significant growth in weekly revenue, reaching $715 by late June. Downloads peaked at around 208.5K in late May, and active users increased slightly from 179K to approximately 198K during the quarter.

Truecaller: AI Call Blocker reported the highest weekly revenue among the top apps, peaking at about $4.9K in the last week of June. Downloads showed a general upward trend, culminating at approximately 141K in the final week. Active users remained stable, fluctuating around 17M throughout the quarter.
