In the second quarter of 2023, the finance app market in Nigeria on the Android platform saw significant activity, with OPay - Cash rain , Airtime , Transfer , Savings, PalmPay - Transfers, Bills, OKash - Safe and reliable personal loan in Nigeria, FairMoney—Instant loans & more from a digital bank, and EaseMoni—Instant loan online leading the charts. The following is an overview of how these apps performed in terms of weekly downloads and active users, based on data from Sensor Tower.
OPay - Cash rain , Airtime , Transfer , Savings demonstrated a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging from approximately 213K to 273K. The highest download figures were observed in the week of May 22. Weekly active users showed a consistent upward trend, starting from around 1.07M at the end of March and peaking at approximately 1.38M in mid-June.
PalmPay - Transfers, Bills also maintained a solid performance with weekly downloads fluctuating between 111K and 185K. Downloads peaked in the week of June 19. Active users for PalmPay saw a significant increase, particularly in June, reaching over 1.12M by the end of the quarter.
OKash - Safe and reliable personal loan in Nigeria experienced steady growth in weekly downloads, starting at 58K in late March and climbing to 87K by the end of June. Active user numbers followed a similar upward trajectory, beginning at around 167K and reaching approximately 222K by mid-June.
FairMoney—Instant loans & more from a digital bank saw weekly downloads vary from 52K to 69K, with a notable peak in the week of May 15. Active users ranged from about 495K in late March to over 548K in mid-May, showing a general upward trend.
Finally, EaseMoni—Instant loan online had weekly downloads fluctuating between 37K and 78K, with the highest number recorded in early April. Active users for EaseMoni showed some variability but generally hovered around the 250K mark throughout the quarter.
