The second quarter of 2023 saw significant activity in the travel app sector on iOS in the Middle East. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 travel apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.
The app, published by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, experienced a notable decline in weekly downloads from 218.7K at the end of March to around 9.8K by the end of June. Weekly active users also saw a decrease, starting at approximately 449K and dropping to 215K by the end of the quarter.
Booking.com maintained a steady performance, with weekly downloads peaking at 43K in the last week of June. The app also saw a consistent rise in weekly active users, starting at 607K at the end of March and reaching about 710K by the end of June.
Uber saw a stable increase in weekly downloads, starting at 23.7K in late March and peaking at 41.4K by the end of June. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, growing from 850K to 941K over the same period.
Airalo: eSIM Travel & Internet
Airalo had a progressive increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 21.4K in the last week of March and reaching nearly 50K by the end of June. Weekly active users also grew steadily, from 24.3K to 53K throughout the quarter.
Bolt experienced a consistent rise in weekly downloads, from 12K at the end of March to 31.4K by the end of June. Weekly active users also increased, starting at 131.5K and reaching 153.2K by the end of the quarter.
