The second quarter of 2023 saw diverse performance metrics for the top 5 entertainment apps in the United States, according to Sensor Tower data. Here’s a closer look at the weekly trends in downloads, revenue, and active users for these leading apps.
Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies from WarnerMedia Global Digital Services, LLC experienced a notable increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $10.7M in the final week of June. Weekly downloads started strong with 11.3M in late May but saw a decline to around 1.8M by the end of June. Weekly active users fluctuated, reaching a low of 4.8M in mid-June before recovering to 7.3M by month’s end.
TikTok consistently led in weekly revenue, topping at $15.8M in mid-June. Weekly downloads remained steady, averaging around 1M per week. Active user numbers were impressively stable, maintaining around 96M throughout the quarter.
Netflix saw its weekly revenue hover around $2M, with a slight increase to $2.2M in late June. Downloads steadily increased, reaching over 532K by the end of June. Active users remained stable, averaging approximately 28M over the quarter.
Tubi: Movies & Live TV maintained consistent weekly download numbers, peaking at 468K in mid-June. Active users showed a gradual increase, reaching around 2.6M by the end of June.
Disney+ from Disney saw its weekly revenue peak at $8.9M in mid-June. Downloads were strong, surpassing 403K in mid-June. Active users fluctuated but ended the quarter at around 8.2M.
