The third quarter of 2023 saw notable trends in the performance of the top 5 MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) apps on the Android platform in the United States. Based on Sensor Tower data, here is an overview of how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang by Moonton had a dynamic quarter. The app's revenue peaked at $187K in the week of September 4, showing strong upward momentum towards the end of the quarter. Downloads saw a significant spike to 67K during the week of August 28, although they tapered off to 7.5K by the end of September. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, peaking at 371K in the final week.
Brawl Stars from Supercell experienced fluctuations in revenue, with a notable high of $182K in the week of July 3 and another peak of $179K in the week of September 11. Downloads were highest in early July at 23K and maintained a steady range, ending the quarter at 11K. The app had over 1.4M weekly active users at the start of September, a number which slightly decreased to 1.2M by the end of the quarter.
League of Legends: Wild Rift by Riot Games, Inc saw its highest revenue of $114K in mid-July. Revenue dipped mid-quarter but recovered to $84K by the end of September. Downloads were relatively low compared to other apps, peaking at 6.5K in mid-July and settling around 2.5K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users remained steady, peaking at 92K in early July and concluding the quarter at 72K.
Pokémon UNITE from The Pokémon Company had a strong download performance, peaking at 28K in mid-July. Revenue saw a significant peak of $61K in the week of July 24, and although it fluctuated, it ended the quarter at $29K. Weekly active users peaked at 108K in late July and gradually declined to 72K by the end of September.
Lastly, Arena of Valor by Level Infinite had a more modest performance. Revenue peaked at $5K in the week of August 21, with weekly active users reaching a high of 12K at the end of June. Downloads remained low throughout the quarter, peaking at 557 in late July.
