In the fourth quarter of 2023, Costa Rica's carpooling and ridesharing app market saw notable performances from the top five apps. Here’s a closer look at their metrics based on Sensor Tower data.
Uber - Request a ride experienced a consistent increase in downloads, reaching a peak of around 14K in early December. Weekly active users (WAUs) also showed an upward trend, peaking at approximately 305K in mid-December before a slight drop to around 257K by the end of the month.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides maintained a steady growth in downloads, hitting a high of roughly 10.4K in mid-December. WAUs for the app peaked at about 253K in mid-December but saw a decline to around 210K by the end of the month.
inDrive. Save on city rides saw fluctuating download numbers, with a peak of around 8.2K in late October. WAUs showed a slight decline over the quarter, reaching approximately 75K by the end of December.
DiDi Driver: Drive & Earn Cash had a relatively stable download trend, with a peak of about 2.5K in mid-December. WAUs for this app remained steady, peaking at approximately 22K in mid-December before a small drop to around 20K by the end of the month.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver showed consistent download numbers, peaking at around 2.1K in mid-December. WAUs were stable throughout the quarter, peaking at about 18.7K in mid-December before a minor decline to around 17.7K by the end of December.
