As the year 2023 came to a close, the dating app scene in France saw varied activity among the top contenders on the unified platform. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a glimpse into the performance of these apps in the fourth quarter.
Tinder: Chat, Dating & Friends maintained its popularity with weekly active users peaking at 1.6M in mid-November before tapering to 1.47M by the year's end. Download numbers saw a significant jump in the final week of December, reaching 39K, while revenues showed a downward trend, starting at $533K in late September and closing at $415K in the last week of December.
adopte - app de rencontre, a homegrown French app, also experienced fluctuations with active users hovering around the 170K mark and a slight dip to 171K by the quarter's end. Its download figures were relatively stable, with a modest increase to 8.7K in the final week. Revenue for adopte began at $145K and saw a decrease to $134K by the end of December.
Bumble: Dating & Friends App saw its weekly active users rise from 333K to 320K over the quarter, while downloads spiked to 27K in late October before settling back to 24K. Revenue-wise, Bumble started the quarter with $135K and ended with $129K, showing relative steadiness in its financial performance.
happn — Dating app witnessed a decline in weekly active users from 609K to 544K. Downloads peaked at 22K in early October but eventually decreased to 16.5K by the quarter's end. Revenue for happn started at $130K, peaked at $134K in early October, and followed a downward trend to finish at $109K.
Lastly, Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat showed an increase in weekly active users from 97K in late September to over 100K by the close of the year. Downloads saw a rise from 4K to 4.9K in late October and ended the quarter at 4K. Revenue for Grindr began at $109K, saw a high of $121K in early December, and concluded the quarter at $111K.
