In the first quarter of 2024, the Australian carpooling and ridesharing app market has seen varied performance among the top contenders on the Android platform. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look at how these apps have fared in terms of downloads and weekly active users.
Uber - Request a ride began the quarter with around 7K downloads, peaking at nearly 13K towards the end of January before settling at 10K by March's end. Weekly active users started strong at 312K, dipped slightly, then peaked at 365K in mid-March, eventually closing the quarter with around 348K.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides showed a similar pattern in downloads, starting at 5.8K and reaching a high of 10K in late January, then tapering off to 7.7K. Their active user base maintained steady growth, starting at 122K and peaking at 143K before a slight decrease to 129K.
For Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver, downloads floated around the 3K mark, with a notable increase to 4K in mid-February. The active user count for Uber's driver app remained relatively stable, beginning at 78K and ending the quarter just below that at around 72K.
Bolt: Request a Ride saw downloads begin at under 1K, with modest fluctuations throughout the quarter, and ending with an upswing to 1.2K. Active users for Bolt showed a slight increase from 9.3K to 9.8K over the quarter.
Lastly, DiDi Driver: Drive & Earn Cash observed downloads begin at 848, peaking at 1K in early March and then declining slightly to 920. The weekly active users saw a slight but consistent increase from 3.1K to 3.4K.
