During the first quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing app landscape in New Zealand saw notable trends in downloads and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.
Uber - Request a ride experienced consistent weekly downloads, peaking at around 2.9K in early March. Weekly active users also showed an upward trend, starting at 113K in January and closing the quarter at approximately 132K.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver saw moderate weekly downloads, reaching a high of 827 in the week of March 4th. Active users fluctuated mildly, ending the quarter slightly down at around 11.4K from a peak of 12.7K in late January.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides had a steady performance with weekly downloads peaking at 717 in mid-February. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around the 4.5K mark, with a slight decrease towards the end of the quarter.
YourRide - The App for taxis. showed a significant increase in downloads, particularly in March, reaching up to 594 downloads in the week of March 18th.
Bolt: Request a Ride had lower download numbers compared to its competitors, with a peak of 151 downloads in mid-March. Active users saw a slight increase from 1.3K in January to about 1.4K by the end of the quarter.
