The first quarter of 2024 saw significant engagement among the top finance applications on Android in the United States. Here's a closer look at the performance of the leading apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.
During Q1 2024, Cash App experienced robust download numbers, peaking at approximately 309K during the week of February 19. The app maintained a steady weekly active user base, starting from around 7.8M at the beginning of January and fluctuating slightly to end at approximately 7.7M in late March.
TurboTax: File Your Tax Return
TurboTax saw a significant increase in downloads early in the quarter, reaching a high of 306K in the week of January 22. Weekly active users also saw a notable rise, starting at roughly 287K and climbing to about 757K by the end of January before stabilizing around 533K towards the end of March.
PayPal demonstrated consistent growth in downloads, with numbers growing from approximately 107K at the start of January to a peak of 188K in the week of March 18. The app's active user base saw minor fluctuations, beginning at around 7.96M and ending at approximately 7.47M by the close of the quarter.
Chime showed a steady download trend throughout the quarter, with weekly downloads ranging from about 87K to 105K. The app's active users increased from roughly 1.94M at the start of January to approximately 2.0M by the end of March, indicating a stable user engagement.
Venmo maintained a consistent download rate, ranging between 78K and 90K weekly. Active users started at around 6.15M in early January, saw a peak of approximately 6.44M in late February, and slightly decreased to about 5.93M by the end of March.
