The first quarter of 2024 saw interesting trends among the top shopping apps on Android in South Africa. Here's a closer look at how the top five apps performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Amazon Shopping experienced a varied quarter. Weekly revenue started at around $80 in early January and then stabilized at roughly $32 for the rest of the quarter. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at 6.2K in the second week of January and ending the quarter at 5.6K. Active users showed a slight decline initially, from 222.6K to 203.8K by the end of January, but saw a resurgence in late March, reaching approximately 223.1K.
Style DNA: Fashion AI Stylist had a mixed quarter. Revenue spiked to $61 in early March but mostly hovered around lower values. Downloads showed a significant surge in the same week, reaching 577 compared to previous weeks where they were mostly below 100. Active users also followed a similar pattern, peaking at 620 in early March.
Sole Retriever - Sneakers had a relatively stable revenue flow, maintaining around $8 to $9 weekly. Downloads were sporadic, with notable peaks at 58 in mid-February and 21 in the last week of March.
Méliuz: Cashback e Cartão showed a steady revenue trend, starting at $22 in the first week of January and stabilizing around $5 to $7 for the remainder of the quarter. No download or active user data was recorded for this period.
Listonic: Grocery List App had a dynamic quarter with revenue peaking at $15 in early January and stabilizing around $4 to $7. Downloads saw significant surges, reaching up to 1.4K in mid-February and 1.1K in early March. Active users also rose, peaking at 1.7K in mid-February before stabilizing around 989 by the end of March.
