In the first quarter of 2024, the performance of the top 5 communication apps in Lebanon displayed a range of trends in downloads and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.
WhatsApp Messenger saw a significant rise in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 23K in the first week of January and peaking at around 35K in mid-March. The app maintained a robust presence with weekly active users increasing steadily from 3M at the beginning of January to over 3.2M by the end of March.
WhatsApp Business experienced a notable boost in weekly downloads, particularly in February, where downloads surged from about 12K in early January to a peak of over 23K. The app's weekly active users also showed a gradual increase, reaching close to 933K by the end of the quarter.
Messenger had a mixed performance in downloads, with an initial decrease in January but recovering by the end of the quarter. Downloads ranged from around 19K at the start of January to a high of approximately 23K in the final week of March. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 1.26M to 1.29M throughout the quarter.
Snapchat demonstrated a steady pattern in weekly downloads, starting at about 18K and fluctuating around 15K to 17K for most of the quarter. Revenue showed a modest increase, peaking at $336 in late February. Weekly active users saw a slight dip in February but recovered to approximately 1.37M by the end of March.
Telegram displayed consistent weekly downloads, hovering around 12K to 16K throughout the quarter. The revenue trend showed a notable increase towards the end of the quarter, peaking at $472 in mid-March. However, the app's weekly active users experienced some fluctuations, starting at about 740K and ending at around 717K.
