In Q1 2024, the top five entertainment apps in Kenya showcased notable trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at how TikTok, DramaBox - Stream Drama Shorts, Amazon Prime Video, ReelShort - Short Movie & TV, and GoodShort - Movies & Dramas performed.
TikTok from TikTok Ltd. demonstrated a remarkable rise in weekly revenue, peaking at around $15.8K in early February. Weekly downloads surged significantly, reaching 406.7K by the end of March. The app also saw a steady increase in weekly active users, culminating at over 4.2M in the final week of the quarter.
DramaBox - Stream Drama Shorts by STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD. showed consistent growth in weekly revenue, peaking at $3.1K mid-March. Downloads fluctuated throughout the quarter, with a high of 9.3K in early March. Weekly active users also rose steadily, reaching 22.8K by mid-March.
Amazon Prime Video from AMZN Mobile LLC experienced a peak in weekly revenue at $2.3K in late February. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight increase to 4K in late February. The app's weekly active users saw a gradual decline, ending the quarter at approximately 18.4K.
ReelShort - Short Movie & TV by NewLeaf Publishing had a varied performance, with weekly revenue peaking at $1.8K in late February. Downloads initially dipped but recovered to 6.5K by late February. Weekly active users remained fairly stable, ending the quarter at just over 56K.
GoodShort - Movies & Dramas by SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD. saw a peak in weekly revenue at $1.1K in mid-March. Downloads showed a notable increase, reaching 2.4K in mid-March. The app's weekly active users grew consistently, peaking at 7.2K in mid-March.
