In the first quarter of 2024, the insurance app landscape in Africa saw notable activity across the top five applications: Discovery, Clientèle, GlobeMed Fit, OUTsurance, and Santam Switch. Data from Sensor Tower reveals interesting download and active user trends for these apps.
Discovery saw a gradual decline in weekly downloads, starting at 10.4K in early January and dropping to 5.9K by the end of March. Meanwhile, weekly active users fluctuated slightly, peaking at 78.9K in the second week of January before settling around 70.4K in the final week of the quarter.
Clientèle experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, reaching a high of 6.3K in the last week of February. The app's weekly active users remained robust, starting at 101K in early January and growing to 110.7K by the end of March.
GlobeMed Fit showed significant fluctuations in weekly downloads, with a notable peak of 6.9K in mid-January. Active users also saw some variations, peaking at 10.7K in the same week before stabilizing around 7.8K towards the end of the quarter.
OUTsurance maintained a relatively stable download rate, averaging around 3K downloads per week. Active users exhibited a similar trend, consistently hovering around the 6.8K mark throughout the quarter.
Santam Switch experienced modest weekly download numbers, peaking at 3.4K in late February. However, there was a noticeable drop to 2.1K by the end of March.
