In the first quarter of 2024, the US shopping app landscape saw interesting trends in downloads and user engagement among the top applications. Data from Sensor Tower offers us a closer look at these metrics.

Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire started the quarter with high download numbers at 1.9M, peaking at 2.2M in the third week of January before trending downward to 770K by the end of March. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, initially at 26M and declining to 21M over the quarter.

The SHEIN - Shopping Online app showed a more positive trajectory in downloads, starting at 614K and reaching over 1.1M by mid-March, ultimately closing the quarter at a high of 1.1M. Weekly active users increased steadily from 14.6M to 16.7M, indicating growing engagement.

Amazon Shopping maintained a strong revenue throughout the quarter, starting at $2M and reaching a high of $2.6M in the last week of February. Downloads remained stable with slight fluctuations, beginning at 449K and ending the quarter at 341K. Weekly active users hovered around 45M to 46M, showcasing consistent app usage.

Walmart: Shopping & Savings downloads saw a slight dip from 415K to 332K over the quarter. Active users remained relatively steady, starting at 11.7M and peaking at 11.3M by the end of March.

Lastly, Shop: All your favorite brands, despite having no reported revenue, had consistent download numbers starting at 316K and ending at 230K. The weekly active users saw a slight decline from 5.5M to 4.5M.
