In Q2 2024, the top five shopping apps on Android in Ghana—Hubtel - Find & pay nearby, Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace, JUMIA Online Shopping, Jiji Ghana: Buy & Sell Online, and TospinoMall—exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at their performance:
Hubtel saw a significant surge in weekly downloads, peaking at about 67K in the week of April 22. The app maintained strong download numbers throughout May, with figures around 55K to 47K. However, the downloads tapered off in June, dropping to approximately 10K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users also followed a similar trend, starting at 82K in early April and peaking at 152K by April 22. The app ended the quarter with around 96K active users.
Alibaba.com consistently increased its weekly downloads, starting at 14K in early April and reaching around 26K by mid-June. The app showed stable weekly active user numbers, beginning at 401K and peaking at 431K in early June, before slightly declining to 415K by the end of the quarter.
JUMIA maintained steady weekly downloads around 12K in April, with a slight decrease towards the end of June, reaching approximately 8.5K. The app's weekly active users started at 184K and experienced a gradual decline throughout the quarter, ending at about 142K.
Jiji Ghana had fluctuating weekly downloads, starting at 7.7K in early April, peaking at 9.7K in late May, and dropping to around 7.6K by the end of June. Weekly active users showed a declining trend from 96K in early April to approximately 73K by the end of June.
TospinoMall experienced varied weekly downloads, beginning with a low of 263 in early April, peaking at around 7.7K in early June, and ending the quarter with approximately 1.6K. Unfortunately, no data on weekly active users was available.
