Social Networking apps continue to be a dynamic segment on the iOS platform in the UK. In Q2 2024, we observed varying trends in downloads and weekly active users among the top contenders. Here's a brief overview of their performance, with all data courtesy of Sensor Tower.
Threads, an Instagram app experienced fluctuating downloads, starting at 106K in the first week of April and peaking at 119K by the end of June. Meanwhile, weekly active users saw a general uptrend from 1.9M to 2.2M, despite a slight dip in mid-June.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained steady downloads, hovering around the 56K to 61K range throughout the quarter. Active users remained consistently high, with a slight increase from 27.6M to 27.8M, showcasing the app's strong user base in the region.
Telegram Messenger also showed a consistent pattern in downloads, ranging from 50K to 61K. The app generated revenue between $26K and $38K each week, with active users varying slightly, ending the quarter with a small rise from 1.3M to 1.34M.
Facebook saw a gradual decline in downloads from 49K to 40K, while revenue figures showed some volatility, peaking at $62K in the final week of June. Active users experienced a slight downward trend, from 14.8M to 14.4M.
Life360: Find Friends & Family presented a mixed picture with downloads starting at 32K and ending the quarter stronger at 46K. Revenue was robust, with the final week showing a notable increase to $109K. Weekly active users grew from 1.3M to 1.54M, indicating a solid quarter for the app.
