In Q2 2024, the food delivery service apps in South Africa displayed diverse performance metrics according to Sensor Tower data. Below is a detailed analysis of the top five apps: Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway, Uber Eats: Food Delivery, Yassir Express, Zulzi, and OneCart: Shopping On Demand.
Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway saw fluctuating download numbers throughout the quarter, starting with approximately 29.6K in early April and peaking at 40.5K in the final week of June. The weekly active users mirrored this trend, with a notable increase from 316.6K in early April to 351.2K by the end of June.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery experienced a steady pattern in weekly downloads, beginning at 29.4K in the first week of April and reaching 31.1K by late June. The app maintained a consistent number of active users, ranging from 315.8K to 326.9K over the quarter.
Yassir Express had variable weekly download figures, starting at 6.2K in early April, rising to a peak of 15K in mid-April, and ending at 8.9K in late June. Its active user base followed a similar pattern, fluctuating between 37.1K and 64K over the quarter.
Zulzi showed uneven download statistics, with figures starting at 2.1K in the first week of April, peaking at 8.8K in mid-April, and concluding at around 2.3K by the end of June.
OneCart: Shopping On Demand maintained relatively stable download numbers, beginning with 3.7K in early April and slightly decreasing to 2.5K by late June.
