In the third quarter of 2024, the finance app landscape in New Zealand presented intriguing trends on the Android platform. This analysis, based on Sensor Tower data, reveals the performance dynamics of the top five finance applications.
Google Wallet by Google LLC showed a consistent pattern in weekly downloads, peaking mid-quarter at 4.4K before a gentle decline towards the end of September. Meanwhile, its active user base expanded steadily from 148K at the beginning of July to approximately 162K by the end of September.
Wise from Wise Payments Ltd. experienced a relatively stable download rate, with a noticeable peak of 2.9K in the week of September 9. Weekly active users for Wise saw a slight fluctuation, starting at 9.4K in July and ending around 9.7K in September.
The ANZ goMoney New Zealand app had varied download activity, reaching a peak of 2.8K downloads in late July. Its active user numbers showed a positive trend, increasing from 108K to nearly 120K throughout the quarter.
PayPal - Pay, Send, Save experienced a steady decline in downloads over the quarter, starting at 1.5K and dropping to approximately 1.2K by the end of September. Despite this, the app maintained a robust active user base, fluctuating around the 71K to 74K range.
Lastly, ASB Mobile Banking saw a peak in downloads with 1.7K in early September, while its active users showed a steady increase, peaking at 81K in late September.
