In the third quarter of 2024, the shooter games category on iOS in the United States experienced dynamic shifts in performance, with Call of Duty®: Mobile, PUBG MOBILE, Free Fire, Free Fire MAX, and War Robots Multiplayer Battles leading the charts.
Call of Duty®: Mobile from Activision Publishing, Inc. maintained a robust revenue stream, peaking at $4.8M in late July, although it saw a gradual decline to $2.4M by the end of September. Downloads showed a downward trend from 138K in early July to approximately 99K by the quarter's end, while weekly active users decreased from 2.1M to 1.6M.
Tencent Mobile International Limited's PUBG MOBILE saw fluctuations in revenue, starting at $2.5M and ending at $1.2M. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight dip from 80K to 68K. The game maintained a consistent number of active users, starting at 843K and slightly decreasing to 700K by the end of the quarter.
Free Fire, developed by GARENA INTERNATIONAL I PRIVATE LIMITED, showed a stable revenue pattern with a notable increase to $2.3M in the final week of September. Downloads, however, trended downward from 50K to 38K, while active users decreased from 1.2M to just under 1M.
A similar trend was observed with Free Fire MAX, which saw its revenue peak at $697K in the last week of the quarter. Downloads remained steady, ranging between 14K and 22K, with a slight increase in active users from 760K to approximately 775K.
Finally, War Robots Multiplayer Battles by MY.GAMES B.V. demonstrated stable revenue, fluctuating around the $230K to $320K mark. Downloads remained consistent, with a slight increase towards the end, reaching 14K. Active users showed a modest rise, ending the quarter at around 95K.
