In the third quarter of 2024, the Film & Television app landscape in Nigeria presented a dynamic picture with varied trends across the top five apps. According to Sensor Tower data, these apps showed distinct patterns in downloads, revenue, and active users.
MovieBox - Movies & TV Shows from TRANSSNET (HK) LIMITED demonstrated a remarkable increase in weekly active users, climbing from about 29.7K in early August to over 360K by the end of September. Weekly downloads fluctuated but peaked at 170K in the final week, while revenue saw a steady rise, reaching $55 in late September.
Netflix maintained consistent weekly revenue, averaging around $80. Downloads showed a significant peak of 73.2K in late September, although weekly active users hovered around 576K to 604K throughout the quarter.
DramaBox - Stream Drama Shorts from STORYMATRIX experienced an increase in weekly revenue, culminating at $10.1K in late August. Weekly downloads and active users saw fluctuations, with active users reaching a high of 245.6K at the end of September.
Showmax, despite no reported revenue, saw a steady pattern in downloads, peaking at 66.9K in late July. Weekly active users grew from 157.5K in early July to 253.1K by the end of September.
ReelShort - Short Movie & TV from NewLeaf Publishing showed a steady increase in weekly revenue, reaching $3.8K in late September. Downloads fluctuated but peaked at 36.2K, while weekly active users increased to over 306K by the quarter's end.
