In the third quarter of 2024, the top five navigation and maps applications in Australia showcased varied performance trends across downloads and active users, as reported by Sensor Tower.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a steady increase in downloads, starting from approximately 27.9K at the beginning of July and peaking at around 39.1K by mid-August. The app's weekly active users fluctuated slightly, beginning with 566K and ending at 558K.
Google Maps presented a consistent download pattern, with numbers ranging from 27.4K to a peak of 31.7K in mid-September. Its weekly active users demonstrated an upward trend, starting at 2.57M and closing the quarter at approximately 2.61M.
Google Earth experienced moderate download activity, varying between 11K and 12.3K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users showed stability, hovering around the 44K mark.
GPS Map Navigation recorded modest revenue, peaking at about $619 in the last week of September. Downloads were relatively low, fluctuating between 2.9K and 4K. Weekly active users saw a slight increase, closing the quarter at 28.6K.
Trip Planner - Polarsteps had consistent download numbers, averaging around 3.5K throughout the quarter. Active users increased gradually, starting from 14K and reaching 15.3K by the end of September.
