In the third quarter of 2024, the superhero gaming genre saw significant activity across the United States. The data, compiled by Sensor Tower, provides intriguing insights into the performance of the top five superhero games on a unified platform.
Super Fighter 3: Open City from Starplay Games exhibited a consistent upward trajectory in revenue, beginning at $971 in early July and peaking at $2K by mid-September. Downloads for the app also showed a notable increase, starting at approximately 56K and reaching a high of 98K in the week of August 19. Weekly active users demonstrated steady growth, increasing from 409K at the start of the quarter to 547K by the end.
MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG, published by Scopely, Inc., maintained a strong revenue stream, with weekly earnings consistently around the $1M mark, peaking at $1.2M in August. The app experienced varying download numbers, with a significant boost to 74K in early August before stabilizing around 30K. Active user numbers fluctuated slightly, ending the quarter at 233K, a modest increase from July.
The Superhero League 2 from Lion Studios, despite its late August release, showed promising download figures, climbing from an initial 15K to an impressive 168K by mid-September. Revenue began to trickle in from mid-September, reaching $587 by the end of the month. Weekly active users surged, starting from 11K in August to 258K at the quarter's close.
The Superhero League also from Lion Studios, experienced a steady revenue stream, maxing out at $461 in mid-August before ceasing by late September. Downloads began strong at 50K but showed a downward trend, ending at nearly 10K. The active user base decreased from 211K to 82K over the quarter.
Finally, Marvel Contest of Champions by Kabam Games, Inc. led the pack in revenue, starting at $2.5M and maintaining an average of $1M weekly. Downloads fluctuated, with a notable spike to 69K in July. Active users remained stable, averaging around 230K throughout the quarter.
