In the first quarter of 2025, the top auto applications on the Android platform in the United States showed varied trends in downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at each app's performance.
Autotrader: Shop Cars For Sale saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 52.4K in mid-February. Active users began at 65.6K and rose steadily, reaching a high of 95.7K by the end of March.
Cars.com: Buy and sell cars maintained a consistent download rate, with a notable peak of 36.2K in late January. Active users grew from 385.7K to 480.8K, indicating a strong user engagement throughout the quarter.
CarGurus: Used & New Cars experienced a steady climb in downloads, reaching 28.5K at the end of February. Active users fluctuated but generally increased from 329.2K to 440.2K over the quarter.
Driver Written Test: 2025 Test began the quarter with 21.8K downloads, which gradually decreased to 16.2K by the end of March. Despite this, active users showed resilience, increasing from 47.3K to 62.5K.
Lastly, CARFAX - New & Used Cars saw a steady rise in downloads, culminating in a high of 24.9K in the last week of March. Active users, however, saw a slight decline toward the end, finishing at 139.3K.
