In the first quarter of 2025, the top carpooling and ridesharing apps on Android in the United States demonstrated notable performance trends. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, highlights key metrics for Uber - Request a ride, Lyft, Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver, Lyft Driver, and Waymo.
Uber - Request a ride showed a consistent pattern in weekly downloads, averaging over 100K, with a peak of approximately 115.8K in late February. Weekly active users fluctuated but ended the quarter on an upward trend, with numbers rising from 6.1M at the start of January to 6.6M by the end of March.
Lyft experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, reaching around 102.8K in late February. The app's weekly active users also saw growth, starting at 3.5M and closing the quarter at nearly 4M.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver maintained a stable download pattern, with weekly numbers ranging from 47.5K to 56.5K. However, the app's active users saw some variation, starting at 1.4M and ending around 1.3M.
Lyft Driver had a moderate download rate, peaking at 18.2K in mid-March. Active users steadily increased over the quarter, beginning at 385K and finishing at 437K.
Waymo showed a significant rise in downloads, from 9.6K in January to 22K by the end of March. Active users followed a similar positive trajectory, growing from 60K to over 84K.
