In the first quarter of 2025, the performance of the leading news applications on iOS in Sweden showed interesting trends. Here's a look at how the top five apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users, with data sourced from Sensor Tower.
Aftonbladet Nyheter experienced a peak in weekly revenue at approximately $48.8K during late February. Downloads peaked at 3.2K in early February, while weekly active users saw a gradual decline from 61.1K to 48.1K over the quarter.
Expressen Nyheter had a notable increase in weekly revenue, reaching around $26.8K in late February. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight rise to 2.3K in early February. Weekly active users grew from 72.9K to 73.2K by the end of March.
X saw an upward trend in weekly revenue, peaking at $8.9K in late February. Weekly downloads fluctuated, with a peak of 3.9K in late March. Active users decreased from 371K to 339K throughout the quarter.
Omni | Nyheter showed a significant increase in revenue, peaking at $9.4K in late March. Downloads peaked at 977 in early February, while active users increased from 216K to 222K over the quarter.
NYTimes: US and Global News had a steady revenue rise, reaching $5.1K in late February. Downloads remained stable, with a peak of 576 in late February. Active users saw a mild decrease from 8.3K to 8.7K by the end of March.
