In the first quarter of 2025, the top sandbox games on the iOS platform in the United States exhibited varied performance trends. Here's a closer look at each app's metrics, with data sourced from Sensor Tower.
Roblox saw a significant fluctuation in weekly revenue, starting at around $11.2M and dropping to approximately $451K by the end of March. Downloads began at 396K, decreasing to 281K, while its active user base remained relatively stable, slightly declining from 16.8M to 14.2M.
Minecraft: Dream it, Build it! experienced a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at $1.3M in the last week of March. Downloads fluctuated, with a peak of 55K in mid-February, and active users rose from 7M to 7.5M towards the quarter's end.
Melon: Sandbox showed an upward trend in both revenue and downloads. Revenue peaked at $54K in late February, while downloads hit 71K in early March. The active users increased from 967K to just over 1M.
Rec Room: Play with Friends had a more modest performance, with revenue hovering around $14K to $23K throughout the quarter. Downloads saw a decline from 57K to 13K, and active users decreased from 133K to 71K.
Growtopia showed minimal revenue fluctuations, peaking at $20K in early February. However, active users decreased slightly from 1.1K to 723 by the end of March.
