2026 State of Mobile is Live!

The first quarter of 2025 in the UK saw interesting trends among the top communication apps on a unified platform, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $1.9K and peaking at $2.2K by the end of February. Weekly downloads were robust initially, with over 100K by mid-January, but gradually declined to about 76K by the end of March. Active users hovered around 21M, with slight variations throughout the quarter.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained strong weekly downloads, beginning at around 117K and tapering to roughly 89K by the end of March. Active user numbers remained stable, starting at 53.4M and concluding the quarter with a slight increase, reaching nearly 54M.
Telegram saw a notable rise in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $113.8K in late February. Downloads experienced a spike in late January to 139K, before settling to around 86K by March's end. Active users showed a slight downward trend, ending the quarter at about 7.6M.
Snapchat showed impressive revenue growth, reaching over $1.1M in late February. Download numbers started strong at 92K but dipped to around 71K by the end of March. Active users remained fairly constant, with a slight increase from 12.8M to nearly 12.9M.
Microsoft Edge: AI browser recorded modest revenue, beginning at $237 and declining to $16 by the end of the quarter. Downloads were steady, averaging around 56K weekly, while active users grew from 2.9M to 3.6M by March.
