During the first quarter of 2025, the top news applications in Central America on a unified platform demonstrated varied performance metrics in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides a detailed look at the trends for these leading apps.
X from X Corp. showed a steady increase in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $26.8K and peaking at $41.8K by the end of March. The app's downloads fluctuated, with an initial surge to 169K in early January, followed by a dip mid-quarter and a recovery to 184K in late March. Weekly active users hovered around 21M, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter.
REFORMA maintained consistent weekly revenue, generally around $11K to $14K. Downloads, however, remained relatively low, averaging around 250 per week, with little variation throughout the quarter.
EL NORTE experienced a slight decline in revenue, starting at $9.1K and decreasing to $7.1K by the end of March. Weekly downloads were minimal, averaging just over 200, indicating a stable but small user acquisition.
SkyAlert: Alerta Sísmica saw significant fluctuations, with a notable revenue spike to $16.1K in mid-March. Downloads peaked in early January at 35K but generally averaged around 1K for the rest of the quarter. Active users reached a high of 347K in early January before stabilizing around 150K by the end of the quarter.
The Economist - News, Podcasts maintained a modest revenue stream, ranging from $2.3K to $4.1K. Downloads were relatively low, averaging under 500 weekly, while active users remained steady at around 2.4K.
