In the second quarter of 2025, the Android dating app landscape in New Zealand saw dynamic shifts in user engagement and revenue. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five dating applications, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Tinder Dating App: Chat & Date displayed a fluctuating yet robust revenue stream, peaking at approximately $45K mid-May. Weekly downloads remained steady around the 1K mark, while active users peaked at 18.4K before slightly declining towards the end of the quarter.
Bumble Dating App: Meet & Date experienced a consistent revenue flow, with figures reaching up to $15K mid-April. However, downloads showed a downward trend, starting from 866 and dropping to 543 by the end of June. Active user numbers began at 14K, dipping to 11.4K before recovering slightly.
Hinge Dating App: Match & Date saw a gradual increase in revenue, reaching a peak of about $8.7K by the end of May. Downloads were stable, mostly hovering around 1K, and active user numbers showed a slight uptick, ending the quarter at 9.7K.
Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat maintained a steady revenue, with figures nearing $5.7K at the quarter's close. Downloads remained relatively constant, while active users rose from 1.7K to 1.8K.
For Chamet - Live Video Chat, revenue peaked at $7K mid-June. Download numbers were modest, and active users increased from 514 to 580 by the end of the quarter.
