In the second quarter of 2025, the dating app landscape in New Zealand showed notable trends across the top five applications, according to Sensor Tower data.
Tinder Dating App: Date & Chat experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, starting at $104K and eventually settling at around $92K by the end of June. Downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around 2K per week, while active users saw a gradual increase from 29.8K to a peak of 37.1K before slightly declining to 30.9K.
Bumble Dating App: Meet & Date showed a steady growth in revenue, reaching $43K mid-quarter before stabilizing around $36K. Weekly downloads started at 1.7K and gradually decreased to just over 1.1K. Active users began the quarter at 28.9K, experiencing a decline to 25.2K by the end of June.
Hinge Dating App: Match & Meet saw a consistent rise in revenue, climbing to $27.2K by the end of the quarter. Downloads remained steady, averaging around 2.1K weekly. Active users fluctuated slightly but ended with a slight increase from 22.3K to 23.4K.
Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat maintained a stable revenue stream, averaging around $13K weekly. Downloads remained consistent, with numbers just above 400 weekly. Active users saw minor fluctuations but remained around 3.7K to 3.8K throughout the quarter.
Yubo: Make friends & chat now experienced a peak in revenue at $7K early in the quarter, with a subsequent decline to $4.8K. Downloads decreased from 553 to 314 weekly, while active users showed resilience, maintaining a range between 6.5K and 7.6K.
