In the second quarter of 2025, the top social networking apps in Russia showed varied trends across downloads, revenue, and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Threads, developed by Instagram, Inc., saw weekly downloads fluctuate, starting at 79.6K in early April and declining to 57.2K by the end of June. Despite these variations, weekly active users displayed a positive trend, increasing from 1.4M to approximately 1.8M by quarter's end.
Telegram Messenger from Telegram FZ-LLC maintained strong weekly revenue, averaging around $700K throughout the quarter. Downloads peaked at 357.5K in mid-April but gradually decreased to 261.5K by late June. Active user numbers remained robust, slightly decreasing from 114M to about 112.9M.
Blink — Friends circle, by Blinkmap Limited, experienced consistent weekly downloads, with a notable rise from 119.2K to 119.8K. Its active user base grew steadily from 3M to over 3.7M during the quarter.
VK: social network, messenger showed a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at $323.6K in mid-June. Downloads saw minor fluctuations, averaging around 150K, while active users slightly decreased from 82.9M to 79.3M.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a consistent download rate, peaking at 233.9K in early June. Active users showed stability, hovering around 110M throughout the quarter.
