In the third quarter of 2025, the carpooling and ridesharing sector in Ireland displayed varied performance across the top five apps on a unified platform. Here’s a closer look at the trends based on data from Sensor Tower.
Uber - Request a ride saw weekly downloads fluctuate, starting at 11.5K at the end of June and slightly decreasing to around 8.7K by late September. The app maintained a strong presence with weekly active users, starting at 183K and experiencing a gradual decrease to 154K by the end of the quarter.
Bolt: Request a Ride experienced a decline in weekly downloads from 7.4K at the beginning of the quarter to 4.7K by the end. Active users initially decreased from 51K to 36K but showed recovery towards the end, reaching approximately 44K.
Freenow by Lyft - taxi & more downloads started at 6.2K and showed a slight downward trend, ending at 5.1K. However, active users demonstrated a positive trend, increasing from 148K to 154K throughout the quarter.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver maintained relatively stable downloads, beginning at 1.3K and ending at 1.4K. The active user count showed a steady increase from 13.7K to 14.8K over the quarter.
Finally, Grab: Taxi Ride, Food Delivery experienced a decline in weekly downloads from 1.9K to 968. Nevertheless, active users remained consistent, hovering around the 68K mark throughout the period.
