In the first quarter of 2023, the Latin American market has seen significant activity in the Music and Podcasts category on Android devices. Data from Sensor Tower reveals the performance trends of the top applications in this segment.
Spotify: Music and Podcasts continues to be a strong player, with downloads starting at around 1 million in the last week of December and dipping to around 900k by the end of March. Revenue showed an upward trend, growing from approximately $25k in the last week of December to about $63k by the end of March. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around the 82 million mark throughout the quarter.
Music Player & MP3:Lark Player, despite not generating revenue, maintained a solid download count, starting at over 800k downloads in the last week of December and ending with around 767k by March's close. Weekly active users showed a positive trend, rising from around 30 million at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 34 million by the end.
TREBEL: Music, MP3 & Podcasts experienced a spike in downloads, reaching a peak of over 550k in late February from an initial 267k at the end of December. Revenue remained minimal, fluctuating around the low hundreds throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users saw a growth, starting at around 4 million and reaching over 5 million by the end of March.
Amazon Music: Songs & Podcasts also showed an increase in revenue, starting at around $3.5k and climbing to over $24k by the end of March. Downloads began at around 446k but saw a decline to approximately 188k. Weekly active users showed a slight decrease from 1.5 million at the beginning of the quarter to roughly 1.4 million at the quarter's end.
Lastly, Music Player & MP3 Player generated modest revenue, starting at $194 and reaching $238 by the end of March. Downloads remained fairly consistent, with a slight decrease from over 300k to around 248k. The app's weekly active users had a slight increase, starting at around 12.9 million and rising to over 13.5 million by the end of the quarter.
