Q2 2023 Snapshot: Top Film & TV Apps on Android in the US

The second quarter of 2023 has seen varying performances among the top Film & Television applications on Android in the US. Here we delve into the numbers provided by Sensor Tower to understand how these apps have fared during this period.

Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies observed a decrease in downloads, starting at around 3.4 million and ending the quarter at around 570k. However, weekly active users dipped mid-quarter to approximately 1.7 million before rising back to around 2.1 million. Revenue trends showed a positive slope, ending the quarter with around $3.2 million.

Tubi: Movies & Live TV has shown consistency in its performance with no recorded revenue but downloads and weekly active users increased. Downloads grew from around 150k to over 217k, whereas active users saw a slight fluctuation, maintaining around 1.4 million by the end of the quarter.

Netflix also reported no revenue but downloads saw an upward trend from around 131k to over 156k. Weekly active users remained relatively stable with a slight increase, starting at around 11.7 million and reaching close to 11.9 million by the end of Q2.

Disney+ witnessed a consistent revenue stream, starting at over $2.7 million and ending the quarter with around $2.6 million. Downloads peaked mid-quarter at around 165k before settling at approximately 116k. Active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, ending with around 3.5 million.

Amazon Prime Video saw a gradual increase in revenue, from a modest $165 to nearly $24k by the end of Q2. Downloads experienced a slight dip from around 118k to over 102k, while weekly active users showed an overall increase, starting at approximately 1.6 million and finishing at nearly 1.7 million.
