According to Sensor Tower’s App Performance Insights, Honor of Kings led global mobile game revenue in May 2026, supported by strong live-ops momentum in China. Its late-April Ne Zha 2  collaboration introduced a limited-time crossover skin, bringing one of China’s most popular film IPs into the game and adding timely cultural appeal heading into May.

Royal Match climbed two positions to No. 2 by worldwide revenue, supported by a packed May live-ops calendar spanning challenges, seasonal progression, and level expansions. Merge Smith and Cinema Collection helped drive early-month engagement, while the Parade Atelier update extended momentum with new levels, rewards, and progression goals.

Other top revenue titles also relied on frequent themed updates to sustain player spending. Gossip Harbor leaned into narrative-led events such as Silvertail Slingers’ Jubilee, Brimwave’s Bigfoot Sighting, and The Fair Frost Princess, using story-driven reward paths to keep players engaged across the month. MONOPOLY GO! followed a similar approach with familiar storybook and seasonal themes, turning wonderland, Pinocchio, and gingerbread-inspired settings into short-term progression loops anchored by collectible tokens, shields, and team-based rewards.

Global consumer spending on mobile games across the App Store and Google Play reached $6.6 billion in May, up 2% month-over-month. The United States led with 29.6% of total revenue, followed by China (iOS only) at 16.8% and Japan at 12%.

On the revenue growth chart, Wuthering Waves ranked No. 1 worldwide, supported by a steady rollout of premium character content. The April 30 update introduced Hiyuki as a new limited character, while the May 21 update added Denia alongside other limited-time character availability events. By combining new character launches with returning popular characters, the game gave both active and returning players multiple reasons to engage, collect, and spend throughout the month.

NTE: Neverness to Everness ranked No. 2 by worldwide revenue growth, supported by its launch celebration, which introduced limited S-rank character Hotori alongside login rewards, draw items, A-rank characters, and other bonuses. A late-May Dreamwalking Gallery update further extended engagement with limited S-rank character Requiem, version login rewards, and limited-time crossover outfits.

Dungeon & Fighter Mobile ranked No. 3 by revenue growth, supported by its second anniversary update. The campaign combined anniversary-limited cosmetics, rare outfits, and class change tickets with new gameplay content, including a mobile-exclusive Black Dragon raid, new raid weapons, expanded Abyss stamina usage, doubled daily rewards, and additional weekly entries.

May’s revenue growth chart also showed how established games can regain momentum through major updates and fan-focused campaigns. Gakuen Idol Master rose to No. 5 after launching a new story arc centered on a school idol competition, paired with a limited-time campaign that increased the chance of obtaining high-rarity characters. DRAGON BALL LEGENDS reached No. 6, boosted by its 8th Anniversary campaign, which introduced powerful new characters and gameplay updates, followed by another limited-time character event near the end of the month.

Overall, May’s top-performing mobile games show how frequent live ops—from IP collaborations and anniversary campaigns to new characters, seasonal passes, and collectible rewards — continue to convert fan engagement into sustained revenue momentum. Arrows  Puzzle Escape’s rise reflects both the growing popularity of arrow-based puzzle games and strong paid user acquisition support. The title ramped up paid display activity across April and May, helping scale visibility around its simple visual rules, quick retry loops, and instantly understandable mechanics. This ad-friendly format is easy to showcase in short video creatives, which helps explain why multiple games with similar directional puzzle mechanics have recently entered the top download charts.

Block Blast! slipped from the global No. 1 position to No. 2 by downloads in May, though it remained one of the world’s most downloaded mobile games. The block puzzler continues to demonstrate the staying power of simple mechanics, short-session gameplay, and broad appeal across major markets such as Indonesia, India, and Brazil, even as newer hypercasual puzzle titles gain momentum.

ROBLOX rose one position to No. 3 worldwide by downloads, supported by a strong mix of music, sports, competitive, and branded experiences. Key activations included a Billie Eilish 3D concert film preview, BEYBLADE X-BATTLES, a LEGO Batman event in Driving Empire, and the new NBA Champions Trade Hub. Together, these events show how ROBLOX continues to drive downloads through fresh UGC, IP collaborations, and social play.

Global mobile game downloads reached 3.77 billion in May, up 5% month-over-month. India led with 703 million downloads (18.7%), followed by the United States (7.4%) and Brazil (6.3%).

On the downloads growth chart,  arrow-based puzzle games were also prominent across May’s downloads growth chart, led by Arrows  Puzzle Escape, which ranked No.1 by downloads growth while also taking the No. 1 spot by absolute downloads. The trend extended to Arrows GO! at No. 3 and Arrow Puzzle: Tap Puzzle Games at No. 6, highlighting the momentum behind directional sorting mechanics. These titles share simple top-down or tap-based controls, flat visuals, and easy-to-understand puzzle loops, making them well suited for short sessions and scalable across broad global markets such as India, the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, and Russia.

Beyond arrow-based puzzles, May’s downloads growth chart showed continued momentum for accessible, ad-friendly mobile formats. Mini Challenges: Calm Games highlighted demand for lightweight mini-game hubs, while Bus Traffic Fever! brought sorting mechanics into a vehicle-themed setting. Newer titles such as Rebel Glam: Dress Up Games and Forsaken Land: Survival Clash gained traction through fashion customization and survival-style tower defense gameplay, while RUSH: Xtreme added arcade racing momentum. Angry Birds 2 also re-entered the growth chart, supported by a packed May content calendar that included the Deep Sea Treasure Pass Season, a Subway Surfers crossover event, and the Song of the Siren Adventure, combining seasonal rewards, crossover appeal, and collectible hats to bring players back into the game.
