As the year 2022 came to a close, the MMORPG category saw various trends across top apps in the United States. Data sourced from Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into how these games fared in the last quarter.
Diablo Immortal, published by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., showed a declining trend in revenue, from around $1.6 million in the last week of September to approximately $900k in the final week of December. Downloads for the game also decreased, starting at around 46k in late September and dropping to about 49k by year-end. Weekly active users followed a similar downward trend, from around 620k to approximately 513k in the same period.
Dragon Trail: Hunter World by 4399TH, experienced fluctuating revenue, peaking at around $271k in late September and ending the quarter with about $256k. Downloads saw a peak of around 27k in mid-October before settling to about 13k by the end of December. The game's weekly active users started at roughly 42k, peaked at around 50k in October, and closed the quarter with approximately 36k.
Ark Games' The Legend of Neverland showed variable revenue, with an initial figure of around $201k in September, a dip to about $121k in early December, and a slight increase to around $130k towards the end of the month. Downloads for the game decreased from around 32k to approximately 31k, while weekly active users saw an increase from about 80k to 105k in the same timeframe.
NEXON Company's MapleStory M: Fantasy MMORPG saw its revenue peak at approximately $251k in early October, followed by ups and downs, ending the quarter at around $154k. The game's downloads remained fairly consistent, hovering around 2k to 3k, with weekly active users experiencing a slight increase from 5.5k to around 7.2k during the quarter.
Lastly, Summoners War: Chronicles from Com2uS Corp. demonstrated an increase in revenue from around $164k to $327k in mid-November, followed by a decline to approximately $223k by the end of December. Downloads peaked at around 64k in the first week of November, decreasing to about 6k by the year's end. The game's weekly active users saw a decline from 61k to roughly 38k during the quarter.
