The final quarter of 2022 brought interesting movements in the music and podcast app landscape across Latin America. Data from Sensor Tower offers a closer look at the trends and numbers for the top applications in this category.
YouTube Music saw a significant rise in downloads, peaking at around 358,000 in the last week of December, from approximately 270,000 at the start of Q4. The app's weekly active users also increased, reaching nearly 66 million in late November, though it slightly decreased to around 62 million by the year's end.
Deezer: Music Player, Podcast experienced fluctuations in both downloads and active users. Downloads spiked at around 179,000 in mid-October before falling to about 98,000 towards the end of November. The weekly active users followed a downward trend from approximately 6.2 million in late September to around 5.8 million at the end of December.
For Everand: Ebooks and audiobooks, downloads started at nearly 20,000 and saw a drop to around 11,900 by the year's end. The weekly active users for Everand also saw a decrease from roughly 194,000 to about 163,000 in the same period.
Spotify - Music and Podcasts showed resilience in its download numbers, with a significant jump to over 1.5 million downloads in the weeks of mid-October and late December. The app's weekly active users peaked at around 98 million in late November but ended the quarter with around 94 million users.
Although Apple Music for Artists had a steady revenue stream, we focus on its downloads and active users. Downloads saw a steady increase from around 70,900 to approximately 73,600 towards the end of Q4. Weekly active users showed a slight upward trend, from nearly 497,000 in late September to over 519,000 in early December, before slightly declining to around 512,000 by the close of the quarter.
