Europe's Android users have been engaging with music and podcast applications significantly throughout the second quarter of 2023. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look into the performance of the top 5 apps in this category, shedding light on their download numbers, revenue, and weekly active users.
Spotify: Music and Podcasts, published by Spotify AB from Sweden, has shown a strong performance with a consistent increase in revenue, peaking at around 635k in the last week of June. Downloads also displayed a steady trend, maintaining around 333k downloads by the end of June. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly but remained in the range of around 63 million.
From France, Deezer: Music & Podcast Player displayed a more varied revenue trend, with a notable dip in mid-May to around 245k, followed by a recovery to roughly 328k by the end of June. Deezer's downloads saw a peak of around 76k in mid-May, while weekly active users experienced a slight decrease, ending at around 5.4 million.
Apple Music, hailing from the US, observed a modest revenue growth with the highest revenue reaching nearly 89k in the final week of June. The app's downloads hovered around 100k, with weekly active users showing a slight increase to just over 1 million.
Canadian app Kobo Books - eBooks Audiobooks saw a gradual increase in revenue, ending the quarter at close to 70k. Its download numbers also rose, reaching over 6k by the end of June. The app's weekly active users showed a minor increase, finishing at approximately 23k.
Lastly, SoundCloud: Play Music & Songs from Germany ended the quarter on a high note with a revenue jump to around 76k. The download numbers for SoundCloud were consistent, with the end of June seeing around 83k downloads. Weekly active users experienced a slight uptick, concluding the quarter with nearly 3 million.
