The final quarter of 2022 saw significant activity in the tabletop board games app category in Europe. Sensor Tower data provides a detailed look at how the top five apps in this category performed.
Chess - Play and Learn from Chess.com showed a strong upward trend across all metrics. The app saw its downloads increase from around 167k in the last week of September to approximately 440k in the final week of December. Revenue also climbed, starting at around $120k in late September and soaring to nearly $273k by year-end. Weekly active users grew steadily, from around 3.2 million to over 5.2 million in the same period.
Zynga's 101 Okey Plus Rummy Board Game also demonstrated a healthy performance, with a slight fluctuation in downloads but a consistent rise in revenue from about $217k to $266k. Active users peaked in mid-November at over 2.6 million before settling at around 2.6 million by the close of the quarter.
Sea Battle 2, developed by Byril, had relatively modest revenue figures but showed resilience in its download numbers, which varied from around 70k to over 94k. Weekly active users saw a peak of around 250k in late October, with a slight dip to approximately 215k by the end of December.
Arclite Systems' Tic Tac Toe Glow experienced a varied download trend, starting at around 68k and reaching over 108k in the last week of December. The game's weekly active users reflected a positive trajectory, increasing from about 342k to over 457k during the quarter.
Lastly, Moonfrog's Ludo Club - Dice & Board Game saw its downloads grow significantly from nearly 68k to a striking 158k. Revenue showed a steady increase from approximately $27k to $38k, while active users grew from around 680k to almost 780k.
