The third quarter of 2021 saw significant activity in the Books and Reference category on the Android platform in Nigeria. Here’s a detailed look at the performance of the top 5 applications based on data from Sensor Tower.
King James Bible - Verse+Audio experienced substantial growth in weekly downloads, starting at around 13.7K in late June and peaking at approximately 119K by the end of September. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, rising from 97.2K to a notable 703K over the same period.
The YouVersion Bible App + Audio maintained a consistent performance in terms of weekly downloads, starting at 17.8K and experiencing a slight dip to 7.6K by the end of the quarter. Despite this, the app sustained a strong user base, with weekly active users fluctuating around the 850K to 900K mark.
Fizzo Novel - Reading Offline exhibited a dramatic spike in weekly downloads, reaching 32.9K in early August before tapering off to 295 by the end of September. Active users showed a similar pattern, rising to a peak of 27.4K in early August and then declining to about 13.6K.
Light Reader - 1MB Daily Read encountered a steady decline in weekly downloads, from 23.2K in late June to 6.2K by the end of September. The app's active user base followed a comparable downward trend, dropping from 238K to around 198K during the quarter.
Finally, the Oxford Dictionary & Thesaurus saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at 9.1K and reaching 11.9K by the end of September. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 29.5K and ending the quarter at about 30.5K. Additionally, the app's weekly revenue showed modest growth, peaking at $67 in mid-September.
